Baudelaire13, January 21st, Blood Red Snow White by Marcus Sedgwick
The title of this book is more fit for a gothic fairytale, which is what I thought it would be. It turned out to be the story of an English reporter caught in the Russian Revolution, and the colors in the title indicate the two "sides" of the war. Actually, this book was quite intriguing, and I simply couldn't put it down.

Baudelaire13, Dec.5, 2007, Incantation by Alice Hoffman
This book is about Jews in Spain from a Christian's point of view, forbidden love, and self-discovery. It sounds like a romantic war story, which I hate, but I'm willing to give it a try because I liked the other books written by Alice Hoffman, which include Green Angel, Aquamarine, Indigo, and Practical Magic.

kailinj, Dec. 4th. 2007, Chinese Cinderella by: Adeline Yen Ma
In this is about the the painful childhood of the author. Like the classical fairy tale Cinderella, she is treated by her stepmother and sister very unfairly, but the novel goes deeper in details and feelings, than the colorful storybook. The story has nothing to do with princesses and beauty, but is about intelligence, creativity, and is a more fictional story. I really reconmend this book to middle schoolers.
